Founders Principles

John Hampshire started to learn the trade of lathing and plastering for $3.50 a week and working 10 hours a day, six days a week.  He learned his trade well and by the age of twenty-one, he went into business for himself plastering homes in Baltimore.  Mr. Hampshire believed that success resulted from applying, on a day-to-day basis, the four principles he established when he started out on his own.  Those principles are service, integrity, quality work and quality material.  He also attributed his success to the loyalty of his friends and employees.

As an apprentice plasterer, he was taught to use enough gypsum and not to "over-sand".  After more than 100 years, Hampshire still does not "over-sand" in anything it does.  We have built a solid reputation within the construction community based on reliable service and quality craftsmanship, performed in a safe and timely manner.
